| Sanderstead proudly boasts its very own Golf Club - Purley Downs was founded in 1894 and is located on the North Surrey Downs some 3 miles South East of Croydon and 12 miles from the City of London in the United Kingdom. Purley Downs is superbly situated, some five hundred feet above sea level, with magnificent views over the whole of London. From the highest vantage points you can see Canary Wharf, Hampsted Heath, and some even claim to have seen Windsor Castle on a clear day. The Crystal Palace aerials help with the line from the 5th tee, and the office blocks of Central Croydon seem a mere five - iron away. The 90 year old clubhouse looks the other way, South. From the picture windows or the verandah, the eye is led down to the first green, and up to a symphony of wooded slopes.Regardless of whether you are an overseas visitor a Sanderstead resident or a local visitor you are welcome. |
